Hi my fellow alumni and alumnae,
This is Raj an alumnus of our alma mater (mhs greamspet -ctr). I was in the school between 1969 and 1971. I have a faint idea of the school as I studied my 2 and 3 classes there only. I still remember one Mr. Eswaraiah sir, of whom we were scared very much. He used make the entire students of the school practice “sit ups” during the assembly in the morning, with his resonant voice saying “sit………..stand”. I used come to the school on foot from John’s Garden with my sister and cousins, crossing a small rivulet and a small gorge though dangerous for our age. Factually speaking, I was not a student of great discipline and I was member of a mischievous gang of five, and given the name of “Pancha Pandavas”. One afternoon we all five bunked the classes and went to near by tank and played in the mud and slime, caught packet full of tadpoles thinking that they were fish. Fools we were then that, we returned to school, with all the mud and slime all over our clothes and body, at the end of the class hours only to receive heavy beating for bunking the classes and harrassing the hapless tadpole. The scene repeated at home (thrashing) as my cousins were there in the school who promptly narrated the whole incident to my parents. Incidentally let me tell you “Sasi” in the above photo is my cousin and the then P. E. T of the school Mr. David, Sasi’s dad is my uncle.
So my friends, there so many sweet memories of school that still linger in our minds. The best and one I cherish most is “when mhs-greamspet-ctr” caught fire in an accidental fire, due to which there was nice stretch of holidays. I witnessed the tongues of fire, from the terrace of our house, and the time was around 3 pm. Does anyone remember the incident? More next time…..bye for now.
